The ski and snowboard instructor courses at Kitzsteinhorn are about to begin, and the start of the season couldn't be better. Thanks to the intense snowfall over the past few weeks, the glacier ski area was able to open its first lifts last Saturday, a week earlier than planned. The excellent conditions on the glacier have only heightened the anticipation for the upcoming courses.
Optimal Season Start at Kitzsteinhorn
With over a meter of snow cover on the higher-altitude slopes, Kitzsteinhorn is in exceptionally good condition. Thomas Maierhofer, the managing director of Gletscherbahnen Kaprun AG, expressed his excitement about the successful season start: “It's been many years since we last started the season in early October.” Currently, six of the 24 lifts in the glacier ski area are in operation, and around a dozen of the 61 kilometers of pistes are already open.
The early season start was made possible by the heavy snowfall in September, which far exceeded the amount of snow usually conserved in depots over the summer. Additionally, snow from seven depots from the previous season was used to perfectly prepare the pistes.
A Successful Kickoff
The first weekend of the season attracted many winter sports enthusiasts to the glacier ski area. On Sunday alone, around 2,000 tickets were sold, and skiers enjoyed the perfect conditions. This promising start has sparked great excitement for the coming months and the upcoming courses.
Perfect Conditions for Training
For the Snowsports Academy, Kitzsteinhorn has been the ideal training center for years. The reliable snow conditions, excellent pistes, and diverse off-piste opportunities provide the course participants with optimal training conditions from October to May. This year’s autumn season promises to be particularly strong, thanks to the perfect conditions already available at Kitzsteinhorn.
