Fan favorite and ambassador of ski jumping: In a brief Snowflash interview, Andreas Goldberger explains what makes winter so special for him and how to inspire the next generation for snow sports.
Andreas Goldberger is more than just a successful ski jumper – he’s an absolute crowd pleaser and an icon of winter sports in Austria. Today, he is dedicated to nurturing young talent and serves as a popular ORF expert and co-commentator. The two-time Austrian Sportsman of the Year was the first person to jump 200 meters, won the overall World Cup three times, claimed the Four Hills Tournament twice, and earned 12 medals at the Olympics and World Championships.
As the initiator of the Goldi Talente Cup, he has one clear goal: to introduce as many children as possible, aged five to ten, to the thrill of ski jumping. With five stops across Austria, children can experience the unique feeling of ski jumping and are encouraged to join local ski clubs. Beyond that, he is deeply committed to youth development—as shown, for example, during a trial session with the Wiener Stadtadler as part of the Volksbank Wien Aufwind Week at the Vienna MuseumsQuartier.

Goldi’s versatility is legendary as well. He has taken part in “Dancing Stars” as well as in events such as the “Weißen Ring,” Dolomitenmann, the Wasa Run, and the Eddy Merckx Classic. He is especially passionate about his role as an ambassador for the “Wings for Life” foundation, which is dedicated to researching treatments for spinal cord injuries—proving that he is not only a sporting icon but also a true role model on a human level.
